Senqu Image Converter is a fast, private image converter and compressor for macOS. Everything happens on your Mac — your images are never uploaded. This page answers common questions; if you don’t find what you need, contact us at the bottom.
Getting started
- Open Senqu from your Applications folder, or click the mountain icon in the menu bar.
- Drag images (or a whole folder) into the window or the menu bar panel — or click Browse to choose them.
- Pick an output format (JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, TIFF, or PDF).
- Click Choose to pick the folder where converted files should be saved. You only do this once; Senqu remembers it.
- Click Convert. Your converted files appear in the folder you chose.
Frequently asked questions
Where do my converted files go? To the destination folder you select with the Choose / Change button. Senqu remembers this folder between launches, so you set it once.
Why won’t the Convert button work? Convert is enabled once you’ve added at least one image and chosen a destination folder. If it’s greyed out, check that you’ve selected where to save.
Why is a format greyed out? Some formats (such as WebP and HEIC) depend on your version of macOS. If a format isn’t supported on your system, Senqu disables it rather than producing a broken file. Updating macOS may enable more formats.
Does Senqu upload my images anywhere? No. All conversion, compression, and resizing happens entirely on your Mac. Senqu has no servers, no account system, and makes no network connections to send your files anywhere. Your images never leave your device.
How does “Target size” work? When you turn on Target size and enter a number in KB, Senqu automatically finds the highest image quality that still fits under that size. It’s ideal for meeting upload limits. (Available for compressed formats like JPEG, HEIC, and WebP.)
What does “Strip EXIF / location” do? It removes embedded metadata — including camera details and GPS location — from your converted images, so you don’t accidentally share where or how a photo was taken. It’s on by default.
Can I convert a whole folder at once? Yes. Drag a folder in and Senqu finds the images inside it (including subfolders) and adds them to the queue. You can convert hundreds of images in one batch.
How do I make a single PDF from several images? Choose PDF as the format. Senqu combines all the images in your queue into one multi-page PDF, in the order listed.
Can I drag converted files out of Senqu? Yes. After conversion, you can drag a file from the queue directly into Finder or another app.
The menu bar version and the window — what’s the difference? They’re the same app. The menu bar panel is for quick jobs; the full window is roomier and better for large batches. Open the window from the panel using the window button in its header.
Does Senqu cost money / is there a subscription? Senqu is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription and no in-app purchases.
